Seasoning is Key for Ultimate Grilled Filet Mignon Flavor

Like all steaks, when grilling Filet Mignon, the flavor will depend greatly on the blend of seasonings and marinade that you utilize.  Before you go through your pre-grilling rituals of firing up your grill and acclimating the filets to room temperature, an important first step lies in … Continue reading

Grilled Filet Mignon with a Balsamic Vinaigrette

Grilling a prime cut of USDA Filet Mignon to achieve a perfect blend of seasonings and temperature is a very simple thing to do. If you’re like me, you’re always striving to obtain that perfect marinade that will produce an intense taste bud sensation.

Here’s one of my favorite recipes for grilling Filet Mignon with an Aged Balsamic Vinegar Marinade and glaze.
First, start out with the following ingredients:
(2) 6 to 8 ounce Filet Mignon steaks
1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
(2) Garlic cloves
(2) teaspoons of salt
1/2 cup of your favorite Merlot wine
1/3 cup of aged balsamic vinegar
Feel free to adjust any of these seasonings to your desired taste.

To start out, we’re going to mix all of the ingredients together in a stainless pan that will also accommodate both steaks. Once that’s complete, we’re going to remove approximately 1/4 cup of the vinaigrette marinade that will be set aside for use later on.
Now that we have our marinade prepared, we’re going to let the steaks marinate in this mixture for a period of 30 to 45 minutes. You can also adjust the marinating time depending on your personal taste preference. For a stroneger balsamic taste, try 1 hour. The important key here is to marinate the steaks fully and let them come up to room temperature before we place them on the grill.

Once you’ve achieved your desired marinade time, take the steaks out of the marinade mix, pat them dry with a paper towel and start warming up your grill to a medium-high temperature. When the grill reaches this temp, grill both steaks for two minutes per side or to your desired rareness. Two minutes per side is usually adequate, but every charcoal and gas grill can differ on the temperature ranges.

One minute before the filet mignon is ready to come off the grill, we’re going to coat both filet’s fully with our marinade mix that we set aside earlier. This will give us a beautiful looking, glazed filet mignon, with a nice outer texture. Serve on your favorite room temperature plates with a couple delicous side dishes and enjoy!
This is a very simple recipe that’s easy to make if you’re pressed for time.
